Former presidential candidate, Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye has revealed that security forces had planned to shoot and kill Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine in Arua and frame him for the murder.
Addressing the press at his offices on Katonga Road this morning, Dr. Besigye said there was a comprehensive plan, but God did not allow it.
On the fateful night, Yasin Kawuma was shot dead in a co-driver’s seat of Bobi Wine’s Tundra in Arua where they had gone to campaign for hon. Kassiano Wadri. It is believed that the bullet was meant to kill his boss, since the deceased was just Bobi’s driver.
Today, the former FDC president said that truly, the plan was for the MP to be killed.
“What was to happen in Arua was to kill Bobi Wine and arrest Besigye immediately for the death. It was a comprehensive plan. Fortunately there is God above stronger than all these evil forces. But none the less, someone is in his grave” a sad Besigye narrated to the media.
He added that the plan to eliminate political opponents has been done through subtle means like poisoning and most people have retired that way.
On the issue of LDUs, Dr. Besigye says they are supposed to be recruited at the village level, trained and left to work with village security committee, but UPDF is recruiting a new force which should have been stopped by parliament.
“It is UPDF recruiting not the village leaders; the idea is that these LDUs will be deployed in the villages. There was no money for this recruitment but budget re-arrangement is ongoing to raise UGX 57 billion for this recruitment.” He said.
