The Vice President of Uganda Retired Major Jessica Alupo has confirmed to Ugandans that President Yoweri Museveni will run again in the 2026 general elections.
She made the announcement on Sunday to church leaders and Christians in Entebbe during celebrations to mark thirty-five years of Entebbe Church of Uganda Archdeaconry.
Alupo who was representing the President at the event said he has proven good leadership skills and should be given more time to complete programs based on alleviating poverty from Uganda.
She asked the public to fully support Museveni following his declaration.
“And as I conclude, Pulesident Museveni ajja kuba naffe mu 2026. Nsaba mumwagire nga bwe mubadde mukola ebbanga lyonna. So now there is no one who will say that the message was not shared. It is now here,let's examine it and because of all those programs that are not complete, let's support the President. “She said
Alupo says the President has led the country to develop in various industries including Infrastructure, ICT and Agriculture among others.
This announcement comes as NRM Veterans including Kahinda Otafire, Rosemary Sseninde among others endorsed the President for another round.
It also comes as the first son and serving General Muhoozi Kainerugaba declared interest to run for the top seat.
