Taxi conductors, drivers connive with thugs
We talked to one victim who lost money in taxi from Natete. He narrated to us that he had gone to visit an NGO that care of young pregnant mothers situated in Natete. After the visit at the said office, he was later paid 1m shillings for his services. He went and boarded a taxi around Natete and it had 5 men. He didn’t suspect that all of them were robbers. On the way, neatly dressed gentleman stopped the taxi and sat near him. On reaching Lubiri ss stage, the said gentle man tried to push him claiming to have thrown down his coins. Meanwhile, as he was being pushed, the goon had already slowly pulled out his wallet which was in the behind pocket. After sealing his deal, he asked the taxi conductor to stop in Mengo, moved out.
The same taxi stops in Mengo because it had few passengers. The victim also got out and went in another taxi. When he reached the old taxi park, he checked himself but couldn’t find any wallet. He later realised that the man who pretended to have lost his coins, had gone with the wallet.
When he reported to nearby police, he was informed that is how the taxi men connive with conductors to rob passengers.
