In the early 2000s, Bobi Wine was one of the big three who include Jose Chameleone and Bebe Cool.
After maintaining his music career for close to two decades, Bobi Wine took a political career path.
In 2017, he won the Kyadondo East by-election and within three years, he formed a political party, NUP, and was a Presidential candidate.
His rapid growth saw many politicians like Betty Nambooze cross over to NUP.
NUP is currently the biggest opposition political party in Uganda with the highest number of opposition legislators.
However, political analyst Tamale Mirundi believes the party was built on a love for money, not a political motive.
According to Tamale Mirundi, Bobi Wine’s family has used the party to accumulate wealth and therefore it will collapse before its third birthday.
“NUP was built on money. It shall not live to celebrate its third birthday because it has been turned into a business. Bobi Wine’s youngest child owns an apartment. I predict it will fall,” he stated during a live talk show.
Tamale Mirundi is one of the most celebrated political analysts in the country.
