Chelsea 2-4 Bradford: League One side fight back from two goals down to ruin Jose Mourinho's chances of a historic quadruple

  • Gary Cahill and Ramires had put Chelsea 2-0 up after 38 minutes at Stamford Bridge
  • Bradford's goals came from Jon Stead, Felipe Morais, Andy Halliday and Mark Yeates
  • Andre Schurrle left out of Chelsea squad, fueling speculation he is set to to leave the club

There are no words.

How do you even begin to start reporting what happened at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

If you thought the FA Cup was dead, you are wrong. Majorly wrong.

As for Jose Mourinho, his side's tilt at an historic quadruple is over.

His ego, as those of his players, is battered. But that's a story for another day.

This is Bradford's story. Not story...fairytale.

Mourinho made a raft of changes, regulars Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa all rested.

And the encounter got off to an event free start, the first chance – if you can call it that – falling to Dider Drogba, who fired wide after Mohamed Salah's cut-back.

Manchester City 0-2 Middlesbrough: Chelsea loanee Patrick Bamford and Kike strike as Boro record stunning FA Cup win

  • Patrick Bamford scored as Middlesbrough stunned Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium
  • The Chelsea loanee capitalised on poor goalkeeping from Willy Caballero to score
  • Kike then made it two in stoppage time to secure Boro's passage to the fifth round

This, Manchester City might now concede, is why you avoid long distance travel on the eve of a game. Why matters here in England need to remain the priority ahead of commitments to their super-rich owners in Abu Dhabi. Why a catwalk encounter with Hamburg was probably not what Manuel Pellegrini and his players needed.

Beaten here by Arsenal in the Premier League last weekend, they were embarrassed by a Middlesbrough side who not only showed them how to defend but how to seize an opportunity.

City had plenty in the first half, certainly, but some tired finishing – as well as some fine goalkeeping from Tomas Mejias, it should be said – was certainly costly.
