This is following from the success of the first MozFestEA in 2014, a 3 day project inspired the annual Mozilla Festival in London with a target of 200 people mainly focusing on disruptive education technologies, culture and web literacy in East Africa. It was made possible by support from the Mozilla Foundation, all the amazing supporters on the Indiegogo campaign and Wapisasa. It was a great success with more than 300 participants and students, more than 20 organizations showcasing their innovations and supporting the festival; it was inaugurated and applauded by the Minister for ICT, Mr. James Saaka from NITA-U, Mr. Mark Surman, the Executive Director of Mozilla Foundation and other key

MozFestEA 2015 will take place from July 17-19th, 2015 at Victoria University Kampala, Uganda with both virtual and physical participation. It will bring together more than 500 local, regional and international participants. This year Jamlab and a few other partners are joining the team to help make the event better and bigger than before because they believe it will make a difference in how we live today.

There will be several tracks and sessions such as education, open data, open technologies, security, open data, digital literacy, social innovation, the web and culture. The first day will be a day for showcasing already built technologies and completed prototypes from last year, the remaining two days will be for vigorous collaborative hacking, making, learning and connecting.

Simply put, MozFestEA is creating a platform for more radical innovations to change the lives of the people in Africa, together for 3 days participants can learn, build, use their skills and effect change to solve the challenges today for a better tomorrow.

Any support from people and organizations is also welcome to the organizers. There have been about 500 sign-ups so far to the extent that a few more tickets have been added are being taken up quickly. You can sign up for attendance at their event page.
