Kampala, Uganda, May 25th 2015: The Board of Directors, Uganda Telecom has appointed Mr. Mark Shoebridge as the New Acting Managing Director. Mark Shoebridge will assume the new role effective 21st May 2015, taking over from Ali Amir who resigned in March 2015. This decision was reached by the board members and shareholders of Uganda Telecom and his new appointment has been welcomed by staff.
“We are delighted to welcome Mr. Mark Shoebridge as the Acting Managing Director of Uganda Telecom and we thank Ali Amir for his service,” said Stephen Kaboyo, Board Chairman Uganda Telecom. “Mark’s achievements while working as the Chief Fixed Services Officer are commendable. We are confident that his experience and expertise will be very valuable to Uganda Telecom and I look forward to working very closely with him to continue Uganda Telecom’s turnaround. The board is confident that he will bring the renewed leadership necessary to instigate required changes to take Uganda Telecom to the highest standards of quality.”
Mark Shoebridge has been the Chief Fixed Services Officer heading the fixed line and ISP divisions of the Company since 2013. He is a highly qualified telecommunications and IT professional with over 20 years’ experience with diverse business conglomerates including Nostracom Telecomunicaciones, SDL plc, Modus Media International, R.R. Donnelley Global Turnkey Solutions and Lionbridge.
Commenting on his new appointment Mr. Mark Shoebridge, Acting Managing Director of Uganda Telecom said: “I am very delighted and humbled that the board has entrusted me with this new appointment.
