Former Mbarara Municipality Member of Parliament, Winnie Byanyima, yesterday shocked public with a very strong message, I am Not Mrs. Besigye.
This follows recent provocative tweets that prompted the desire to clear some of the speculations between her lover Kiza Besigye and herself! Allegations late last year came out in tabloids…. claiming that their relationship had hit the rocks…in fact alternative sources claimed, Besigye was having a secret affair with FDC’s secretary for mobilisation, Ms Ingrid Turinawe
Last evening, Winnie confessed to her social media followers, who thought why she has never adopted Mrs Winnie Byanyima Besigye yet she the in-coming First Lady
“My name is Winnie Karagwa Byanyima full stop,” she answered to one suggestive tweet, before confessing, “Kizza Besigye is my spouse. He has his name and I have mine. I hope this clarifies. Thanks for asking.”
However, when further pushed by a one Alice Ruhindi on whether she really intends to ever consider becoming “Mrs Besigye,” she replied: “I am not Mrs. Besigye period. Does it bother you?”
It should be noted in 1999; Winnie wedded Col. Kiiza Besigye in a small and secret ceremony at the Lourdel House chapel at Nsambya, in Kampala. The ceremony was conducted by His Grace Archbishop Paul Bakyenga of the Western Province and retired Bishop Barnabas Halem'Imaana of Kabale (RIP) with the help of three reverends.
Winnie wept for joy in front of a select crowd of a little over 50 guests, after exchanging rings with Besigye, but with such revelation coming out from Winnie, we hope this doesn’t turn out to be ugly!
