Mugisha has been one of the longest serving TV personalities at the station. He was a potent force at the station and his departure leaves a huge gap to fill.
UBC where he is going seeks to grow its appeal. The station has been going through various changes over the past couple of years. The entry of Mugisha with his experience and knowledge, UBC, might improve its content and national appeal.
Mugisha has been credited by many for mentoring young reporters, and anchors at Nation media.
Meanwhile, NTV announced on Twitter they have now appointed Ms Josephine Karungi as acting Head of News to fill the void left by Mr Mugisha.
