Blogger Tusubira Ibrahim commonly known as Isma Olaxess was gunned down near his home by unknown assailants on Saturday in Kyanja Central Zone.
Isma died on the spot but his driver, Mathias Waiswa walked away with minor injuries.
A local newspaper reported on Monday that the driver is under police protection as a key witness in the murder case as investigations continue.
Mathias Waiswa recorded a statement with the detectives, recounting the last moments of Isma including the places he visited and people he met.
It is also reported Police also retrieved the telephone communications records to pick clues on what happened.
Different people on social media including Isma's friends and fans have been calling for the arrest of his driver.
