Singer Chris Evans Kaweesi has been released from prison in Sembabule after his recent arrest over the weekend.
Evans's arrest was a result of the police's attempt to apprehend Hassan Nduga, a fellow musician who had allegedly taken money from a promoter based in Sudan but failed to show up for the scheduled event.
Following the promoter's complaint, a case was filed against Hassan Nduga, and investigations into the matter have been ongoing.
Over the weekend, the police received information that Chris Evans Kaweesi was scheduled to perform in Sembabule. Consequently, they launched an operation to apprehend him.
Unfortunately, the police's efforts to apprehend Hassan Nduga were unsuccessful as he managed to evade capture. However, Chris Evans was not spared and was subsequently detained at Sembabule Central Police Station. After spending a night in custody, Chris Evans Kaweesi and the others who were detained with him were released earlier today.
As of the time of publication, Hassan Nduga's whereabouts remained unknown. Nevertheless, the police have emphasized that their search for him is ongoing.
