The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has called on the Court of Appeal to dismiss an appeal filed by Godfrey Wamala, also known as Troy. Wamala is contesting the 14-year prison sentence he received in connection with the death of renowned musician Moses Ssekibogo, known as Mowzey Radio.
Wamala was convicted in October 2019 by Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo, based on strong evidence supporting a manslaughter charge against him. The evidence presented demonstrated that on January 22, 2018, Mowzey Radio visited De Bar, an establishment owned by George Egesa in Entebbe. While at the bar, an altercation occurred, resulting in Wamala allegedly causing fatal injuries to Mowzey Radio.
In response to Wamala's appeal, state attorney Joseph Kyomuhendo argued for its dismissal, citing Wamala's lack of commitment to pursuing the case. Wamala's legal team had not produced supportive documentation since the initial notice of appeal. Wamala requested an adjournment due to incomplete records provided by the High Court, which was granted.
The Court of Appeal registrar, Lillian Bucyana, confirmed the availability of necessary documents and granted an adjournment for further proceedings.
