Three people suspected in the murder of social worker Kenneth Akena have this afternoon been charged and remanded to Luzira by the Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court.
The trio, Matthew Kayamunyu, 39, his girlfriend Cynthia Munwangali 26, and his brother Joseph Kanyamunyu 40 appeared before Grade One magistrate Noah Sajjabi who read to them murder charges.
“You are all charged of one offence of murder contrary to section 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act.”
It is alleged that the trio and others still at large on November 12th, while along Kampala -Jinja road near Malik Car bond opposite UMA main gate; with malice aforethought caused the death of Kenneth Akena.
The accused however told court they understood the charges against them but were not allowed to take plea because it is a capital offence only tried by the High Court.
State prosecutor Ann Ntimba however told court investigations are still going on, prompting the magistrate to remand them to Luzira up to December 6th.
The suspects however did not appear shaken by the case that has dominated headlined in the past days looked calm throughout the short court session.
