Trouble for former Inspector General of Police, IGP Gen. Kale Kayihura seem to keep piling up after his team of lawyers, Kampala Associated Advocates, said they have not been informed of the charges against their client, or when and if he will appear in Court.
Earlier, several media houses reported that the General, who was arrested on Wednesday, would be presented before the Military Court Martial and charges read out for him. However, this did not happen.
By this morning, Kayihura’s lawyers said they did not know about their client going to court today or this week, and they are yet to be informed about such a development.
His lawyers also said the General who was arrested by the army, was being questioned on a matter the details of which cannot be divulged to the public.
It has also been confirmed that Gen. Kayihura has been allowed access to his lawyers on several occasions since his arrest, and he is doing well.
The former police chief is being held at Makindye barracks where he awaits to be presented before court. He was arrested and airlifted from his country home in Kasagama by the military, at the orders of the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. David Muhoozi on Wednesday. The military is yet to give reason for his arrest, as the public and media continue to speculate.
According to a statement issued on Sunday (yesterday) by the Kampala Associated Advocates, the former IGP officially instructed the team to represent him. They will also be answering any queries and issues regarding Gen Kayihura's well-being.
