The Police at Kawempe has launched investigations into the disappearance of a teenager following his suspension from school.
Nyanzi Frank, a 14-year-old Primary Seven Pupil at Guiding Star Primary School in Kawempe went missing on July 7, 2022.
Nyanzi reportedly ran away after the school authorities suspended him indefinitely for being in possession of a mobile phone under unclear circumstances.
Trouble for Nyanzi started on that fateful day when the school administration sent him home to collect a balance on his school fees.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy spokesperson, Nyanzi, while holding the mobile phone, met his uncle identified as Luutu David at home. Luutu questioned him about it and Nyanzi claimed he had borrowed it from a friend at school.
Unsatisfied with his response, Luutu took the child back to school to inquire who the rightful owner of the phone was. Upon reaching school, a teacher asked Nyanzi’s classmates about the owner of the phone, but all pupils were in denial.
Owoyesigyire says Nyanzi was consequently suspended. However, when the child heard that his father was going to be informed, he requested to go for a short call and then disappeared.
Owoyesigyire is now calling upon anyone who may know of his whereabouts to inform Kawempe Police on these numbers 0701409856, 0782607496, and 0782837496.
