Police in Albertine region are holding a woman for allegedly hacking her three children under unclear circumstances.
The suspect, Agaba Omuhereza, 33, chopped children, aged 5, 3, and 11 months.
Agaba murdered the minors at her parent’s home in Kiziga LC1, Kinogonzi Parish, Buhimba Subcounty, Kibaale where she had gone on August 20, 2022, to treat a mental illness.
Agaba used a panga to hack all three children on August 25, from a room belonging to her brother Kasangati Omuhereza.
The deceased have been identified as Ahumuza Praise, 5, Wemigisha Faith, 3, and Tumukugise Pease 11 months. They all died while being rushed to Hoima Referral Hospital by relatives.
Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says Agaba has been arrested at Hoima Police Station on murder charges.
He adds that a blood-stained panga exhibited as the weapon used in the crime was recovered by police at the scene.
Enanga adds that upon interrogation, Agaba confessed to the crime, giving a very clear account of how she murdered her 3 children.
He further states that a medical examination conducted on the suspect found her to be fully conscious, oriented, and with abnormal behavior.
He says she is pending a further psychiatric forensic report.
