Sironko district Chief Administrative Officer, Luke Lukodo has interdicted two district officials for allegedly allocating government land at the district headquarters and Mutufu prisons to private developers illegally.

The officials have been identified as Michael Nangwale, the Sironko District Physical planner, and the Senior Land Management Officer, David Semera.

It is alleged that the duo was interdicted after being implicated in the fraudulent land transactions. Their troubles date to July 2022 when the Sironko district LC V Chairperson, Livingstone Giruli appointed a committee to investigate the allegations against them.

Some of the committee members included Job Joel Busima, the representative of Mafudu Sub County, Dison Balayo, the councilor of Sironko town council, Alex Naogona from Buwere town council, Alex Gudio Yeku from Bubeza sub-county and Meresi  Mudenga of Mutufu town council among others.

However, on Monday, the select committee tabled its findings implicating the accused officers following three months of investigations.

Busima who chaired the select committee noted that their findings show that some of the land belongs to ghost owners while the other was illegally leased out.
He told the chairperson that Nangwale and Semera were at the center of the fraudulent land transactions, before recommending that the duo is punished for illegally parceling out government land for their selfish interests.

Sironko CAO Mr Lukodo, says that the two officials were interdicted on similar grounds before the committee tabled its findings. He explains that he first received reports that they had illegally parceled out government land in Mutufu, which he investigated and found to be true.
He says that he immediately interdicted the duo to pave way for investigations by the probe committee appointed by the LC V Chairperson that has also come out with the same findings.

Yeku Gudio, a member of the probe committee wants the two officials sacked to serve as a lesson to other would-be offenders. He says that most of the plots on public land in the district were allocated to developers who paid money directly to the two officials.
Sironko LC V Chairperson, Giruli says that the two officials sued the district at Mbale High court shortly after being interdicted. He explained that they are waiting for the court verdict before they make their final decision on the matter.

Isiah Sasaga Wanzira, the Budadiri east constituency member of parliament in Sironko district is happy with the committee findings and interdiction of the officials, saying this will protect district property, which the officials have been disposing of at will.
