Social media influencer and NRG radio host Sheila Gashumba has revealed why she is no longer interested in hosting television shows.
Sheila Gashumba explained that being a TV presenter in Uganda did not make economic sense to her as she was earning very little and hence had to quit.
"Those days, they would give you between UGX 50,000 and UGX 100,000 per show. Does that make any economic sense? I wasn’t lying about the UGX 50,000. When you asked for a pay raise, it was like they were doing you a favor," she explained in an interview with Kasuku.
She says television presenters are broke, borrow clothes, and can only afford boxers and knickers.
"TV presenters are broke. They borrow clothes. How can you be presenting and the only thing you own on the outfit is a pair of knickers? The people from whom they borrow these clothes even wait to take their clothes back on set. Immediately you are done, you take them off," she added.
Sheila Gashumba hosted NTV The Beat for over five years and quit in 2019. She then joined NBS Television and hosted the NBS After 5 show until 2023, when she left.
She is currently working with NRG Radio, hosting a weekly show that runs every Saturday.
