Police in Bushenyi are searching for assailants who stabbed one person dead and beat up other residents.
The incident happened at about 00:40 am on Monday 12/12/22.
The deceased has been identified as Asiimwe Gilbert Bashiru, 40 years a resident of Kambuzi cell, Kigoma-Kizinda town council in Bushenyi district.
The incident was reported by Karenzi Deo the area LC1 chairperson who noted that the deceased and some other residents had come to his house to make a report of a sudden death of their neighbor.
However, on their way back home along Kizinda -Nyabubare murram road about 200 metres from Bushenyi -Kasese High way, they were attacked by unknown assailants.
Marcial Tumusiime the PRO Greater Bushenyi says that the assailants beat up the residents and the deceased attempted to fight back but in the process he was stabbed with sharp object on left shoulder.
“He managed to run while bleeding and collapsed in a distance of about 100 meters from primary scene. The Lc1 chairman rushed to the scene and found the deceased while still breathing and took him to KIU hospital where he later died,” says Tumusiime”.
The Body is at KIU teaching hospital pending postmortem.
The police are hunting for the assailants who managed to disappear after the incident.
