President Yoweri Museveni has nominated Court of Appeal Judge, Justice Simon Byabakama as the new chairperson of the electoral commission.
Justice Byabakama replaces Eng. Dr. Badru Kiggundu whose 14 year term of office ended yesterday.
The president also appointed Hajjat Aisha Lubega as the commission’s vice chairperson.
The new commissioners are; Peter Emorut, former Kajara member of parliament Stephen Tashobya, Prof George Piwang and Mustapha Ssebagala Kigozi.
The new electoral commission will be vetted by Parliament before confirmation of their names.
