Namuwongo based Dembe FM hasn’t been on the air for the past few weeks. The station was shut down by UCC on claims that it was broadcasting beyond its licensed bandwidth.
However, as the company continues to feel the pinch of being off the air, new and shocking details have emerged, suggesting that it is not just bandwidth but something bigger than that.
"The closure came after Monitor publications, the sister company of Dembe, published disturbing photos from the recent Kasese saga. UCC felt like this was inciting violence but couldn’t in any way close down Monitor” a source said.
Another source added that “Since they’re from the same mother company—Nation media group— UCC under the directive of information minister found a way of accusing Dembe and shut it down” the source added.
We are busy working on the exact cause of Dembe Fm closure
