Panic As Minister Insists Artistes' Bill Will Become Law In Two Weeks

At a consultation meeting this week, Peace Mutuuzo, the minister for Gender and Culture sent shock waves down their spines after she said artistes had only two weeks to have their input in the draft of the proposed laws to govern the arts industry.

Many at the consultation meeting protested, saying that two weeks were not enough.

The minister said there was need for regulations because the industry has reached a level where it can't operate without them.

Hannington Bugingo, a comedian said that regulating the industry is a good idea, but the proposed laws will kill the industry.
