Lydia Jazmine is the latest to fall victim to the infamous YouTube scam that targets high-profile YouTube channels sometimes to broadcast cryptocurrency scams or simply auction off access to the account.

The technique used to hijack YouTube accounts is common with hackers-for-hire who used it to compromise thousands of YouTube creators in the past couple of years.

The 'Omutima' singer has been locked out of her account and the channel's name has changed from 'Lydia Jazmine' to 'MicroStrategy'. The scammers have also uploaded two live videos promoting streams of Michael Saylor, the billionaire founder of business analytics software firm MicroStrategy.

Cryptocurrency scams and account takeovers themselves aren’t a rarity; look no further than the recent Twitter hack that targeted high-profile accounts from Joe Biden to Elon Musk. But the sustained assault against YouTube accounts stands out both for its breadth and for the methods hackers used, an old maneuver that’s nonetheless incredibly tricky to defend against.
