Weeks back, Musician Mugema Daudi appeared in the media and publicly sought assistance after battling cancer for several years.
He appealed to different people, including opposition politicians Bobi Wine and Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago. He attributed the cancer in his legs to his time spent in a police cell in Kireka after he was arrested following a protest.
Lukwago has responded to his plea and facilitated his travel to Turkey for specialized treatment.
It is reported that Lukwago secured a passport for the singer and also got him cleared for the Turkish visa and catered for his travel ticket.
"This morning, our brother DAUDI MUGEMA and I have met with the Turkish Ambassador to Uganda, H.E FATIH AK at his office in Kololo. We would like to express our profound gratitude to my good friend, His Excellence Fatih, for expediting the processes required for the transfer of our brother to Istanbul, Turkey, for specialized treatment of his cancerous leg. I'm glad to note that all is now set for our brother to set off. More prayers needed," a statement read on Lukwago's Facebook page.
Daudi Mugema is famous for songs like "Katonda Wabanaku," "Mpayo Chance," "Edongo Mubayimbi," among others.
