Musician Joshua Baraka is one of the most trending Ugandan musicians internationally.

He has not yet achieved awards, but his unique music style has been recognized, winning him collaborations outside East Africa.

Baraka disagrees with musicians championing the copyright law fight. He says they should focus on other priorities at the moment, like music studios and equipment.

He explained the current copyright law is good for the time being, and the UNMF should first lobby for studios because a lot of talent is stuck in the ghetto and could go big with access to music studios.

"I think there is a way we can earn from music for now, and what we need are studios. We have a lot of talented people in ghettos, but they can't afford good studios, so the UNMF needs to create those first before looking into copyright law," he said in an interview with a local television station.

Baraka believes copyright law alone is not enough to develop the Ugandan music industry.
