The State Minister for Youths and Gender, Balaam Barugahare, has praised Jackie Chandiru for overcoming drug addiction and for her dedicated efforts to combat drug abuse within the industry.
"I want to thank Chandiru for overcoming drug abuse and for taking on the role of an ambassador against it," he said in an interview with a local television station.
Balaam also warned artists to avoid drug use, emphasizing the harm it causes to their health.
"I urge artists to stay away from drugs because they are very dangerous to humanity," he said.
He explained that many artists turn to drugs due to high levels of poverty and unhealthy competition in the entertainment industry.
"Some musicians and comedians resort to drug abuse due to poverty. In such cases, they compare themselves to others who have more, leading to feelings of inadequacy," he explained while appearing on Sanyuka Television.
