The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has refuted claims that it has banned the new hit song "Dembe" by artist Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi popularly known by his stage name Bobi Wine from playing on radio stations.
According to the Daily Monitor, Godfrey Mutabazi, the UCC executive director said 'as far as he's aware', no ban has been placed on the Ghetto President's new song ... and that even though he is currently outside Uganda, as the executive director, he would be informed of any action by the commission.
The rumors appeared first on some few blogs before social media picked up the effortless spiel which caused an outrage among people who considered the ban a dictatorship action.
The song has been so popular that within just a few hours, it has been streamed over 18,210 times on Howwe Music.
With it's educative lyrics and earnestly advocate message against election–related violence, 'Dembe' has been looked upon very favorably by Ugandan citizens and has received generally good reviews and comments on social media.
