Uganda today August 12th joins the rest of the world to commemorate international youth day.

This year’s celebrations are held under the theme; “the road to 2030: Eradicating poverty and achieving Sustainable production and consumption.”

This year’s national celebrations according to the minister of gender labour and social development, Janat Mukwaya, are being held in koboko, while several local governments are also urged to celebrate in their districts.

H.E Yoweri Museveni is the chief guest St. Charles Lwanga college Koboko where the national celebrations are being held. Hon. Mukwaya in a message says her ministry is determined to downgrade the profile of poverty and unemployment among the youth of Uganda through multi disciplinary interventions.

“We want to see that no youth is left behind by 2030” Mukwaya said. She added; “Collectively we can make a difference in the lives of youth in Uganda by eradicating poverty and achieving sustainable production and consumption.”

Marking of the international youth day is in consonance with the UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/54/120 of the 54th UN session.
