The Uganda Tourism Board, UTB is partnering with Institute of Certified Public Accountants to host the 4th Accountants Congress, set to take place from 2nd to 5th May, 2017 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

The event will be held under the theme; "Accountancy and Accountability: Transforming Africa's Economics."

Africa Congress of Accountants (ACOA) is an international event held every after two years and brings together professional accountants and business leaders from the African continent and beyond.

Addressing the press at Uganda Media centre this morning, Stephen Asiimwe, the managing director Uganda tourism board said this partnership between these professional bodies is one of the strategies to promote tourism. He argues that ACOA provides an opportunity of boosting networking, international trade, and trade in services.

“This partnership between professional bodies like ICPAU is one of the strategies to promote tourism. ACOA provides an opportunity of boosting networking, international trade, and trade in services” Asiimwe said.

He explained that participants will include thought leaders among them CEOs, accounting and financial professionals, tax experts and representatives of Professional Accountancy Organisations.

During the event, Dr. Dlamini Zuma, the immediate past Chairperson of African Union Commission will deliver a key note address. According to Asiimwe, UTB will use the event to promote visits in Kampala and the rest of the country.

Other speakers expected are Ms. Rachel Grimes, President, International Federation of Accountants, Ms. Asmaa Resmouki, President Pan African Federation of Accountants, and Prof. P.L.O Lumumba, Director and CEO, Kenya School of Law” Asiimwe added.

Protazio Begumisa, President ICPAU believes that a partnership with UTB to host the ACOA 2017 is an opportunity to showcase the country's tourism potential.
