The speaker of parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has this afternoon met with the Inspector General of Police; Kale Kayihura who came to the latter’s office to respond to a letter demanding an explanation for the raid on parliament by security operatives in September.
Kadaga, in a letter dated October 23, put President Museveni, Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Affairs, Inspector General of Police and Commander of the Special Forces Command to task, to give an explanation on deployment of plain clothed operatives involved in the infamous parliament scuffle.
She wants the four gentlemen in their capacities to state the motive and why the mean looking men and women were deployed.
The speaker is also interested in finding out who commanded the operation, insisting that CCTV footage shows a section of people beating MPs. The speaker adds that the operatives are not attached to parliament as staff or the sergeant- at –arms.
Kayihura, after the scuffle, confirmed to have deployed the operatives, and that the move was planned and ensured the success of the eviction of legislators.
By press time, the speaker’s office was yet to reveal what was discussed in the meeting held this afternoon.
