Body of late Ruhaama County Member of Parliament William Baijukye will today lay in state for MPs and the public to pay last respects.

Beijukye, a first term MP, who won the Ruhaama County seat in February 2016, died on Friday at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala, where he was being treated for Hepatitis B. He was 46.

A statement released by Parliament, and signed by Perry Biribonwoha on behalf of the clerk to Parliament, indicates that the cortege shall arrive at Parliament at 11:30 am for the public viewing, then there will be a special sitting at 2:00pm for MPs to pay final respect.

Meanwhile, Beatrice Rwakimaari, the Ntungamo Woman Member of Parliament described the death of Beijukye as a total loss to the people of Ruhaama County.

Rwakimaari says the death of the first term legislator was untimely and that it comes at a time when his constituents needed him most.

Rwakimaari noted that Beijukye was still young, vibrant and social and that the two had laid down strategies for the development of Ruhaama County.
