President Yoweri Museveni is today slated to meet the committee on legal and parliamentary affairs which is interfacing with different people to listen to their views on the controversial constitutional amendment No.2 Bill 2017.
The infamous age limit Bill which has left the nation divided seeks to amend article 102 (b) of the constitution, allowing the president to stand after clocking 75 years.
The committee had initially been divided on meeting the president with many of its members arguing that he would coerce them into siding the infamous Magyezi Bill.
During an internal Committee meeting held at Parliament a few weeks back, Jacob Oboth Oboth, the Committee Chairperson rejected the proposal to interface with President Museveni.
Oboth argued that Museveni is a Fountain of Honour and therefore shouldn’t be subjected to Committee proceedings.
However, a message from state house last evening confirmed that Museveni would meet committee members today and the media will not be allowed to cover these proceedings.
