Residents of Kyaruhimbi- Soweto cell in Kiyenje ward in Bufunda division in Ibanda Municipality are in shock after one of their own, committed suicide.
The deceased has been identified as 47-year-old Edith Kemitasyo, whose lifeless body was found hanging on a mango tree this morning. The area LC I Chairperson Vincent Katura, says the deceased hanged herself using a piece of cloth.
Keatura was informed about the incident by residents who saw the deceased's body hanging on a mango tree near a foot path.
Ambrose Nyesiga, a son to the deceased told police that his mother had mental challenges but that the situation was under control. He however, says the same situation could have pushed his mother to end her life.
The In Charge of Criminal Investigations Department at Ibanda Police Station, Susan Tumugumye, says they have handed over the deceased's body to Ruhooko health center IV for postmortem as investigations are ongoing to ascertain the cause of death.
