Two children lost their lives and another one survived when a house they were in caught fire, burning them to ashes.

In an exclusive interview with this site, Joseph Mugisa the Director police fire department said the victims are residents of Lubigi, in Nansana municipality.

He explained three children were left in the house by their mother, who went to buy some house hold goods at the shop. Unfortunately, she had a left a charcoal stove in their makeshift house which children failed to properly attend to, leading to the accident.

According to Mugisa, two children, one 2 and another 13 died in the fire, while their sibling, a 12 year old survived.

“A mother left three children in the house at around 9PM, left a sigiri for them to attend to cooking something; unfortunately they could not do so carefully. A fire broke out, two of them didn’t survive” Mugisa said.

He cautioned members of the public to avoid cooking on charcoal from inside their houses as this could cause fires or even suffocation. Mugisa however, did not name the minors or their mothers, saying this information was not readily available by press time.
