A 27-year-old man James Maniraguha a resident of Gatobo village in Nyarubuye Sub County, Kisoro district is in Police custody in connection with the death of a primary school teacher, also his father, whose body was found dumped a few meters to his home on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Jonas Mugisha, a teacher at Rwanzu Primary School in Busanza Sub County.
Mugisha, a family member says the deceased was last seen on Saturday evening in Gatobo trading centre. However, Preliminary investigations by the police indicated that the deceased was strangled to death, and the killers did not take any of his possessions which included, among others, a mobile phone and money, as we reported yesterday.
Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson says they have arrested his biological son, Maniraguha as one of the killers. Maate explains that Maniraguha was arrested after indicators that he could have been involved in a plot to end his father's life over land issues.
He adds that Maniraguha was last seen with his father on Saturday night, but did not show up anywhere near their home after the recovery of the body. Police also received information that the deceased had for so long battled with his son over a piece of land.
The suspect is detained at Kisoro police station.
