Uganda police force and its sister security agencies have mapped out hotspots throughout the country to help them secure tomorrows LC elections.

This was communicated by Okoth Ochola Martin, the Inspector General of Police, in a statement released this morning.
According to the IGP, the security situation in the country remains stable, despite the persistent threats of general crime. He however says the women representatives elections were peaceful throughout the country.

The nomination and campaigns for these elections went on well without any serious incident registered throughout the country. Elections for women representatives for local councils were equally peaceful throughout the country the IGP said.

He however warned that the election comes with excitement coupled with anxiety among the population which requires thorough security measures. He adds that Uganda police force has enhanced visibility in the hotspot areas, along the routes and polling station.

We shall continue with high visibility and community policing to detect and curtail any crime that may disrupt the exercise. We have deployed standby Public Order Management Forces at strategic locations to timely respond to any forms of public disorder the IGP wrote.

He encouraged all Ugandans to turn up in big numbers and exercise their rights by voting without any fear of intimidation. Come out to vote knowing that security is guaranteed.

I want to warn anybody who will be found threatening or intimidating voters or engaging in electoral malpractice that they will be arrested and charged in courts of law he concluded.
