Uganda police force has promised to fully police the 25th coronation of the Kabaka of Buganda Muwenda Mutebi II at Lubiri Mengo tomorrow July 31st 2018.

Thousands of police officers both uniformed and covert have been deployed inside and outside the Kabaka’s palace to help safeguard the event.

According to the Kampala metropolitan police commandant CP Moses Kafeero, police will work hand in hand with sister security agencies to ensure success of the occasion.

“We have allocated gates of who will pass where, we shall have the inner ring and outer ring, foot and motorized patrols in and outside the palace, will be in thousands. We expect that we shall have a peaceful function” he said.

He called upon members of the public to work together with police and report any suspicious characters to officers at site. The commandant also said they have collaborated with the health ministry to provide ambulances and ensure that people are helped.

Norman Musinga, the commandant traffic police for Kampala metropolitan also released the traffic guidelines indicating that a number of roads will be closed.
As has been the police norm when preparing for such big events, stickers have been handed out to different categories of invited guests. However, Mr. Musinga declined to mention the colors of stickers who should carry gate for what he called “security reasons.”

Motorists not related to the function will be diverted at Nabunya Lubaga road, Mengo hill road, musajja alumba road, Nalong close, Mutebi road, Kisenyi, Ndeba Xhing Xhing and Kabaka’s lake. All the junctions and roads leading to lubiri will be cut off for other motorists.

According to Musinga, any motorists who do not adhere to these guidelines will be dealt with according to the traffic laws os the land.
