Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Rev. Stanley Ntagali has this morning opened the Church house in Kampala that has been under construction for several years.
The church house will also house the head offices of Equity Bank Uganda, and the Bank’s church house branch. The Bank which celebrates her tenth anniversary today, has occupied 3 floors of the building.
The church house is a 16-floor office building located in the heart of Kampala, next to the Catholic Church owned Mapeera house. It has been under construction for over seven years and the process stalled for some good time.
During the event, Samuel Kirubi the Managing Director for Equity bank Uganda said the Bank has been on a growth trajectory and currently stands at position 8 in the market by total assets.
“The move symbolizes our determination to continuously improve our offering to our people, by ensuring our products and services are accessible and convenient to them. In church house, we shall be more accessible because we are now located in the Central Business District” Mr. Kirubi said.
Currently, Equity is one of the fastest growing banks in Uganda with a large network of 33 branches, 971 agents (EquiDuuka), 945 Pos Terminal supporting merchant banking. The bank has a total asset base of UGX 103 trillion making it the 8th largest Banks in Uganda by asset size.
Dr.Louis Kasekende the Deputy Governor Bank of Uganda who was also chief guest has congratulated Equity bank for its contribution to the financial sector in the country.
He thanked Equity Bank for serving local Ugandans and not just some big corporations. Dr. Kasekende praised the bank for caring for its customers and embracing agent Banking.
