Former Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura has this morning appeared at the military court in Makindye as part of his Bail conditions.

Edward Kale Kayihura was granted bail by a panel of 7 Army Officers chaired by Lt Gen Andrew Guti on 28th August 2018 due to health complications. He would later fly to Nairobi for medical attention.

The former IGP was arrested and charged before Court Martial with three counts of aiding and abetting the kidnapping by commission, repatriating Rwandan exile and refugees and Ugandan citizens to Rwanda between 2012 and 2016.

He was also accused of failing to protect war material by issuing arms to unauthorised persons including Boda Boda 2010 members led by jailed Abdallah Kitatta between 2010 and 2018. He denieds all the charges.

Gen. Kayihura was ordered to appear before the court registrar every first Monday of the month as part of his bail conditions. 

Lt Gen Andrew Guti the military court chairman extended his bail to 4th February 2019 as case is yet to be registered for trial since investigations are still on going.
