Police Butaleja Central Police Station has caged seven residents in connection to the fracas at Bukedi College Kachonga on Tuesday morning over land.
The suspects were part of a group that raided the school farm and vandalized a tractor that was tilling a disputed piece of the land measuring 12 acres
The land is part of a donation to the school by the late Tito Mudanye. But, family members accuse the school management of taking more than they were given.
The family claims the late Mudanye donated 40 acres to the school, but management has since taken over 50 acres, which they want to reclaim.
On Tuesday, angry family members ganged up with residents and raided the school garden where a tractor was digging and impounded it before vandalizing it. It took police’s intervention to open fire and disperse the mob.
