State house Anti-Corruption unit has arrested Edward Lwanga the Mbarara Town Clerk and Chief Finance Officer, Richard Kelele for alleged misuse of their offices.
The duo was arrested on Monday after hours of interrogation at Mbarara council hall. The state house Anti-corruption unit has been holed in Mbarara investigating local government leaders for days.
It is also said that James Agaba the Mbarara Municipal Principal Commercial Officer escaped from the same session for fear of being arrested, prompting the unit to issue orders requiring him to report to Kampala immediately.
The unit further interrogated Mbarara Mayor, Robert Kakyebezi.
The duo was arrested after failing to convince the unit on how 300million Shillings allocated to the rehabilitation of Koranorya road was spent, monitoring the 21 billion Shillings Mbarara central Market construction and sale of government land among others.
Cuthbert Ethoku the Chief Administrative Officer and other officials for alleged misuse of office were arrested by the unit barely a week ago.
Now, the Legal Officer of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit Israel Ochwo saying they are following up of several issues in Mbarara district and that the arrested officials were transferred to Kampala for further questioning
