Uganda will on Monday 12th August 2019 join the rest of the United Nations fraternity in marking and commemorating the International Youth Day, in conformity with the UN General Assembly resolution of 19th December 1999.
The development was communicated by the minister for Youth and Children Affairs Hon Nakiwala Kiyingi while addressing journalists at Uganda media centre this morning.
The International Youth Day is celebrated in recognition of the numerical strength of young people and their importance in contributing to achieving the aspirations of state parties.
This year’s theme is: “Transforming Education for Responsible Citizenship & Employment Creation.” It emphasizes the importance of relevant & quality education & skills in molding a wholesome being.
The celebrations according to Hon. Nakiwala, will take place at various Local Government levels across the country but the National Celebrations will take place in Jinja District at St Gonzanga Primary School Kagoma on 12th August, 2019, 24kms on Jinja-Kamuli Road.
“I would like to take this singular opportunity to invite all of you to the main celebrations of IYD in Jinja at St Gonzanga Gonza Primary School Kagoma on 12th August 2019 starting at 8:00am” she added.
