Panic has hit Mbarara University of Science and Technology-MUST following the death of Brian Akampurira, a 2nd-year medical student under unclear circumstances.
The Mbarara Police Operations Commander Swizen Tibesigwa says they are investigating circumstances under which Akampurira was killed and his body found lying in TASO village near a lagoon.
The deceased, according to Akampurira could have been waylaid by thugs at a bridge connecting TASO village to Katete in Nyamitanga division last night on the way to his place as the body had signs of strangulation.
Akampurira was last seen in public at the University on Wednesday evening, and had reportedly returned to his rented room in Katete but left for Holy Innocents Hospital in Nyamitanga to check on his Aunt at around 8:00 p.m.
The deceased was a member of charismatic church and an organist in the choir.
Samson Kasasira the Rwizi regional police spokesperson says that police is still investigating the incident.
