The police in Kampala under the command of CP Moses Kafeero the Commander Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested over 147 suspected hardcore criminals.
The suspects were rounded up during an intelligence led operation along Northern bypass last night.
The deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says the operations followed complaints from the public, of thugs along the Northern bypass who have been mugging and assaulting them before taking away their property.
According to Owoyesigyire, the operation covered areas of Kawempe, Wandegeya /Kalerwa, Kyebando, Kisasisi, Bweyogere and Kiira road most suspects were netted along Northern bypass stretch.
Of the147 suspects 40 were arrested in Kawempe, 48 in wandegeya, 10 Kira Division and 49 off Kiira road.
Police also recovered exhibits including; marijuana, suspected stolen phones, breaking implements and knives among others.
They are currently being held at Kawempe, Kira Road and Wandegeya Police Stations pending screening and Court respectively, while the CP Kafeero promises that the operation will continue.
