Two people have been killed in different parts of the country following violence that characterized the National Resistance Movement- NRM parliamentary party primaries.
One of the deceased is party registrar for Mukuju Sub County in Tororo District who was knocked dead.
Julius Ceaser Tusingwire, the Bukedi Region Police Commander- RPC narrates that Sinambiyo Oketcho left the polling station at Okworoto A, Okworoto parish on a motorcycle after conducting the elections.
However, he was followed by some unknown assailants who were driving in a Premio vehicle and knocked him dead, leaving the Boda Boda cyclists with serious injuries.
According to Tusingwire, police is investigating the circumstances under which Oketcho was knocked and they are yet to identify the person who was driving the vehicle.
He said that preliminary investigations indicate that after voting, the deceased had misunderstandings with unknown people who were fighting over the results.
Meanwhile,
Another person has been killed while two others are nursing injuries following clashes in Katakwi District.
The deceased is Lucy Apenyo, a resident of Apule Village in Kapujan Sub County while the injured are Teddy Akiror and Charles Otyang.
David Ongom Mudong, the Police Spokesman for East Kyoga says the incident happened following clashes at Apule Polling Station between supporters of Joseph Andrew Koluo, the incumbent MP and his rival Walter Elakas, the Katakwi LCV Chairperson.
The victims were hit by stray bullets as the Police and UPDF officers deployed at the Polling Station tried to quell the rowdy crowds.
All the officers who fired live bullets have been arrested and are currently detained at Katakwi Central Police Station.
