The Police in Kibaale District have launched a hunt for a man accused of chopping off the hand of his estranged wife.
Tadeo Tumuhaise, a resident of Kaisobakara Village in Matale Sub-county is alleged to have waylaid his 22-year-old ex-wife Rosette Kyomuhangi on Tuesday night and chopped off her right hand using a machete.
The victim was rushed to Mubende hospital from where she was referred to Mulago National Referral Hospital for further management.
Reports indicate that the couple officially got married three years back but divorced two months ago for an unknown reasons, although Tumuhaise has been accusing Kyomuhangi of cheating on him with different men.
According to Banada Bogere the victim’s father, his daughter had a bitter relationship with Tumuhaise who was battering her, forcing her to run back home.
The Kibaale District Police Commander Esther Adeke, says they have launched a hunt for the suspect as investigations into the matter continue.
