The Directorate of Crime Intelligence has conducted an intelligence led operation following numerous attacks on people in their homes at night by pangas and knives wielding thugs in the areas of Nansana, Namungoona and Kasubi.

A team of officers was on Thursday dispatched to the areas of Kasubi and Kawala, where they arrested a group of criminals whom are believed to be behind the aggravated robberies.

The suspects have been identified as Frank Ainebyoona, William Ssenyondo and Nyesiga Precious Kabiizi.

Luke Owoyesigyire the KMP Deputy spokesperson says an assortment of suspected stolen items was recovered from the premises of Ainebyoona following a search by police officers.

At least 10 plasma TVs of different sizes, eight laptops, three DVD players, one amplifier, 13 small speakers, four big bass speakers, four Smart phones and six small phones were found at his home. The suspect didn’t have any document of ownership of the items.

Another search was conducted at William Sengendo's premises where one big plier used to cut padlocks, iron sheets and doors were recovered. A panga, a sharp knife and a hammer were also recovered at his home.

Owoyesigyire says the suspects will be arraigned before courts of law on allegations of being in possession of suspected stolen items and that the operations are still ongoing with the aim of dismantling the market for stolen items.

“The criminals that are engaged directly in robbing the public are also being targeted. We would like to also urge the public to at all times report or inform the police whenever there is any emergency or such criminal activities in their areas on telephone numbers: 0414-254561, 0414-254562, 0718642443, 0700519319, TOLL FREE: 0800122291, 0800300102.”
