Three people have died on spot and several others were injured when a bus rammed into another car at Rwemiyenje Rugando trading center along the Mbarara-Rwampara road.
The accident happened at around 11:00 Am on Thursday when a bus registration number UAQ 079W belonging to Bismarkan Coaches knocked a Carina registration UAV 977P and a motorcycle registration number UEP 535K.
According to eyewitness accounts, the accident occurred when the driver of the Carina tried to turn on his right and was hit together with the motorcycle by the speeding bus.
After hitting the vehicle, the bus swerved off the road injuring most of the passengers on board.
The Rwampara District Police Commander Stephen Kamar, confirmed the three deaths, saying that they are still trying to establish the cause of the accident.
The deceased have been identified as George Kangwamu and his wife who were travelling home in the carina from Kyegegwa district for a family meeting.
According to Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson, the injured and bodies of the dead have been transferred to Mbarara regional referral hospital for treatment and post-mortem respectively.
