Police in Mbarara City are investigating circumstances under which an Asian businessman was found dead in his apartment in Mbarara.

Police in Mbarara City are investigating circumstances under which an Asian businessman was found dead in his apartment in Mbarara. 

According to Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson, the deceased is 50-year-old, Tana Tijas Dhrajilal, a resident of Rugazi cell Mbarara city South Division.

Tijas’s lifeless body was recovered from his house on Tuesday. 

The Officer in Charge of Kakoba Police Post Ivan Onen says that a group of Indians filed a case of a missing person on Tuesday afternoon when their colleague failed to show up for work. 
They also tried to access him through his mobile telephone in vain.

Onen says that he brought the matter to the attention of his superiors at the central police station who sent a team of detectives and Scene of crime officers. 

The officer broke padlocks to gain entrance to Tijas’s apartment where they found his lifeless body lying on the bed, dressed in a shirt, and underwear.  

Also, a small injection, bottles with medicine and others which were empty, plus syringes were found beside the body. 

A colleague says Tija was diabetic and often used insulin.  

The deceased body has been conveyed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem as investigations continue.
