Court in Rukungiri has sentenced a man to 16 years in jail for killing his own mother.
The sentence was handed over by Justice Moses Kazibwe Kawumi on Tuesday after finding 35-year-old Victor Muhumuza guilty of killing his mother only identified as Jeradina on July 31st, 2017.
Muhumuza, a driver and resident of Kitanda cell Nyakaina Parish, Buyanja Sub County in Rukungiri district murdered his mother in cold blood. Justice Kazibwe while delivering his judgment, noted that the prosecution proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
He argued that the court considered the gravity of the crime Muhumuza committed and sentenced him to 20 years imprisonment.
Justice Kazibwe however, reduced the 4 years he spent on remand and will now spend 16 years in jail. Warders from Rukungiri prisons whisked off Muhumuza after the court verdict.
